Raytheon has been punished lately retreating over 10% from its high. Shares are now providing about a 3.8% yield. I'd like to get a 4% yield so instead of waiting for a price drop , I decided to sell a put.
I sold 1 Aug 17 '13 $50 put @ 2.05. If assigned I'll own 100 shares of RTN at $47.95/share (4.17% yield).
If the put expires worthless then I collect $205 in premiums for waiting 6 months.
This almost maxes out my leverage in my options account. I am currently keeping $10k in cash in that account. I have an option expiring in a couple weeks that would free up some income but I need to keep a buffer in case stocks that I sold puts against start to drop.
